Dear Rules Crew:

While searching for my ball on the 12^th hole in high grass, I accidentally kicked it and moved it. I wanted to put it back with no penalty, but my friend, John, said it is a penalty for causing my ball to move. Who is right?

Ruling:  Brian, sadly for John, he is wrong and it is your lucky day. Rule 7.4 states that there is no penalty in this scenario if you are searching for the ball and cause your ball to move. Just replace the ball on the spot from which is moved and carry on.
